The plans for the 2017 50th Anniversary Gala are underway! We hope to make this year’s celebration more special than ever.
We hope you will make plans to join us for a spectacular evening on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Children’s Museum of Richmond. For our new families, this is our signature event for our 50th year and in the past, these galas have raised thousands of dollars for school projects! This is a fun-filled event (adults only) and one you don’t want to miss! It will offer a silent and live auction, delicious cocktails and fabulous food and so much more.
This Gala will be THE event of the year that brings the entire RMS community together to celebrate our anniversary. As part of our commitment to continually improve what we know and can provide our children, we will be raising funds in order to provide facility and technology upgrades for the School as well as an enhanced library and research experience for RMS students. All proceeds from the live and silent auction will benefit this project.
To be successful, we need each and every family to help in one way or another.

Donations: We are currently accepting donations from individuals and businesses. You can help by donating an item to be auctioned or perhaps by asking your place of business, relatives or friends for a donation. Everyone knows someone to ask! Businesses are remarkably happy to donate- it is good advertising and a tax deduction for them! Use the attached request for Donation Letter to ask everyone you know to be involved and submit the Donation Form when you have received an item. We’ll send the donor a letter for a tax deduction and credit them in the Auction Catalog. See the attached list for donation suggestions.
Sponsorships: We provide opportunities to sponsor our entire 50th anniversary year with special benefits associated with the Gala. This is a perfect opportunity for your employer or your business to make a contribution to the event. Event sponsors are prominently featured around the school, in different marketing vehicles and in the Auction Book at the event. See the Sponsorship/Advertising Form for sponsorship opportunities.
Class Projects: Our students will be taking part in the excitement of the gala by creating an auction item to donate. Each classroom and parent liaison will organize a gift that will be placed on our online auction. This will give grandparents, friends, family and neighbors the opportunity to bid…even if they cannot attend the Gala. And, the class projects will be a highlight of the evening’s live auction.
Advertise: Advertising is a great way to support RMS, recognize your child(ren), thank a special teacher and/or promote your business. All ads will be placed in the Auction Program as space allows. See the attached Sponsorship/Advertising Form for rates.
Attend: Attend the 50th Anniversary Gala and encourage others to attend. Tickets are $125 per person or $200 per couple. Don’t forget to SAVE THE DATE!

Our school is fortunate to have so many families contribute to our auctions each year. Unique items, exciting weekend getaways, cool merchandise and valuable services – we love it all! Soliciting donations is a critical part of the auction; without auction items, we wouldn’t be able to have an event! Some previous items that RMS families have loved bidding on include:
