Richmond Montessori General Admissions Requirements and Procedures:
1. Tour Richmond Montessori School
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to visit Richmond Montessori School for a tour before submitting an application. A tour of our private school will give you the opportunity to learn about the Montessori method of education, see our campus, observe our classrooms, experience our school community, and get your questions answered to determine if Richmond Montessori School is the right place for your child and family.
Once your application is received with the application fee, teacher recommendations and/or academic records are requested for all children applying for the Kindergarten through Middle School, from the applicant’s current school. To apply, please fill out the application form.
3. Applicant Visit & Parent Interview
Children are invited to visit in a classroom for 30-45 minutes under the guidance of an admissions interviewer. School-aged children (age 5 and older), are invited to visit for a 30-45 minute readiness assessment which is conducted one-on-one with an admissions interviewer. Based on this assessment, the Admissions Committee determines if the child should return for a half-day classroom visit. The parents participate in an interview with the Director of Admissions during their child’s visit.
4. Admissions Decision & Enrollment Offer
Every applicant who completes the admissions process is considered for admission by the Richmond Montessori School Admissions Committee. The applicant’s visit, academic record, teacher recommendations and compatibility with Richmond Montessori School are all factors considered in the decision to accept, decline or defer admission. Enrollment contracts are offered on a rolling basis and are typically offered within 10 days of the child’s final school visit.
