Richmond Montessori General Admissions Requirements and Procedures:
1. Tour Richmond Montessori School
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to visit Richmond Montessori School for a tour before submitting an application. A tour of our school will give you the opportunity to learn about the Montessori method of education, see our campus, observe our classrooms, experience our school community, and get your questions answered to determine if Richmond Montessori School is the right place for your child and family.
Once your completed application is received, the Director of Admission will contact you to set up your parent interview and your child’s school visit. Teacher recommendations and/or academic records from the applicant’s current school are requested for all children applying for Kindergarten through Middle School. We do not request records for children applying for our Toddler or Preschool programs. To apply, please fill out the application form.
3. Applicant Visit & Parent Interview
We do not administer standardized testing during the admission process, though children are invited for a classroom visit and a one-on-one readiness assessment which is conducted by one of our Educational Coordinators. The parents participate in an interview with the Director of Admission during their child’s visit.
4. Admissions Decision & Enrollment Offer
Every applicant who completes the admissions process is considered for admission by the Richmond Montessori School Admissions Committee. The applicant’s visit, academic record, teacher recommendations and compatibility with Richmond Montessori School are all factors considered in the decision to accept, decline or defer admission. Enrollment contracts are offered on a rolling basis.
