Richmond Montessori School's staff includes 14 full-time Montessori-certified Lead teachers from Toddler to Middle School, eleven classroom assistants, mostly with Bachelor's degrees, six specialty teachers, an Extended Care staff of ten and an Administrative Team of nine.
The diversity at RMS is not only represented by our students, but by the training of our staff. Our AMS (American Montessori Society) and AMI (Association Montessori International) certified teachers are graduates of Training Centers in New Jersey, London, Dublin, Washington, D.C., Florida, New York, Virginia, Maryland and Texas.
Specialty areas at RMS include science, physical education, art, music, Spanish, and technology. Upper Elementary students participate in "Minds in Motion" with the Richmond Ballet. The school has a full time Media Resource Specialist.
Our Head of School received her Masters degree in Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis in 1995. She will complete her American Montessori Society Certification in Montessori School Management in July 2008. She is a trained facilitator and peer mediation trainer with more than 20 years of experience in human resource management, development, and training in the non-profit, public, and private sectors.
RMS Director of Studies received her Montessori Primary and Elementary certification from Sion Hill Training College in Dublin, Ireland. She works directly with both staff and students. She is the longest serving member of the administrative team, with 25 years at RMS, and has stepped in twice as Interim Head at pivotal points in RMS history. She has been a consultant for the American Montessori Society, and is currently serving as Vice-Chair of a school accreditation team for the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
RMS Finance Director has a bachelors degree in International Business from James Madison University, and extensive financial experience in the corporate world.
RMS Admissions Director has a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from the College of William and Mary, with experience in admissions from the private sector.
Extended Day Director has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Virginia Commonwealth University, and experience in child-care management. |
