The Richmond Montessori School junior varsity (JV) and varsity sports are disciplined, challenging, spirit-filled, and highly competitive in their respective leagues. The teams are also co-ed and all-inclusive - open to every student who is interested in joining.
RMS team sports enable students to learn the games and develop skills over time. Many times, the players have “graduated” to the junior varsity and varsity teams after taking part in the school’s basketball camps and soccer schools as young children (ages 3-7), although this is not a requirement. Many RMS alumni continue their sports careers by remaining athletically active and competing successfully in high school and beyond.
BASKETBALL
JV Basketball – For all interested boys and girls, first through fifth grade, the JV Basketball Team competes in a league. The season’s schedule includes practices and one game per week..
Varsity Basketball – RMS’ Varsity Basketball team is a co-ed team open to all RMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Practices are coupled with ten to twelve games per season and played in a league.
SOCCER
JV Soccer – Boys and girls (ages seven to ten) are eligible to join the school’s Junior Varsity soccer team and compete in a league. The team practices once a week with weekly games throughout the fall and spring seasons.
Varsity Soccer – Students ages 11 and older are eligible to join RMS’ Varsity Soccer team. Players practice weekly for seven or eight matches held during the fall and spring soccer seasons.
