Ways to Give

Contributions to Richmond Montessori School may be made in a variety of ways. All gifts great or small make a difference and help RMS make a world of difference! In addition to helping advance the mission of RMS, some gifts provide significant tax advantages to the donor.

The easiest and most expedient way to make a contribution is through a gift to the “Fund for Montessori Excellence”. Donations may be in the form of cash, check or through a credit card charge.

To increase the impact of your financial contribution, consider applying for “matching” funds if your employer offers this program.

Other gifts that provide a beneficial impact to the school are stocks and appreciated securities, insurance, real estate and bequests. Contributions of this kind can offer additional tax advantages to the giver. Details on how to direct a gift can be acquired through the Advancement Office.

Gifts that support a donor’s philanthropic values directed for special projects are also welcome. Please contact the Advancement Office to discuss the particulars related to a special project or to request a list of specific opportunities that support an identified need at Richmond Montessori School.

Donations to established endowments at Richmond Montessori School are appreciated. The current endowments that exist at the School are the Della Mae Reese Jefferson Scholarship Fund, the TEAM Endowment and the Martha Mabey Scholarship Fund. These three endowments provide for essential qualities to a RMS education – diversity and excellence in teaching. Endowment contributions may be directed at the time of the donation.

Capital Giving….

In-kind gifts are accepted. These may be in the form of an item or service for a specific purpose. To coordinate your in-kind gift with indentified needs at Richmond Montessori School, contact the Advancement Office.

Donations to supplement library acquisitions are realized through the “Happy Occasions Club”. For a gift of $18, you may honor a special event occurring in a child’s life (birthday, new sibling, soccer team victory, etc.). “Happy Occasion Club” forms can be found in the Library & Technology Center or you may contact the Bibliotech Team at ext. 18 for more details.

Flags in the International Flag Garden on Parham Road are replaced on an annual basis. Through generous sponsorship of flags by the RMS community, our flags look fresh and the costs associated with maintaining the garden are defrayed. To participate in the flag campaign, contact the Advancement Office for additional details.

The Richmond Montessori Parents’ Association hosts its annual auction. This is their major fundraiser and all proceeds are donated to benefit the RMS community. You may support the auction through sponsorships, item donations, through attendance at the event and by serving on the steering committee. Contact the RMPA Auction Chair to see how you can get involved.

Throughout the year, RMS sponsors numerous projects that benefit the community outside of the immediate school. Examples of such projects include, but are not limited to: a canned food drive for the Food Bank during Winterfest, mitten and hat donations for the Henrico County Christmas Mother and sweater collection in collaboration with the Community Idea Stations. You are welcome to support those projects as inspired by your personal beliefs.
