Enrollment Process

Becoming a Falcon

Richmond Montessori School has rolling admission, which means that we accept applications throughout the year and accept students all year long. We welcome inquiries and applications from all families with children ranging from 18 months to 14 years of age (toddlers through 8th grade).

General admissions requirements and procedures

1. Tour Richmond Montessori School

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to visit Richmond Montessori School for a tour before submitting an application. A tour of our school will give you the opportunity to learn about the Montessori method of education, see our campus, observe our classrooms, experience our school community, and get your questions answered to determine if Richmond Montessori School is the right place for your child and family.

Schedule Your Tour

2. Apply

Once your completed application is received, the Director of Admission will contact you to set up your parent interview and your child’s school visit. Teacher recommendations and/or academic records from the applicant’s current school are requested for all children applying for Kindergarten through Middle School. We do not request records for children applying for our Toddler or Preschool programs. To apply, please fill out the application form.

3. Applicant Visit & Parent Interview

We do not administer standardized testing during the admission process, though children are invited for a classroom visit and a one-on-one readiness assessment which is conducted by one of our Educational Coordinators. The parents participate in an interview with an Educational Director during their child’s visit.

4. Admissions Decision & Enrollment Offer

The Admissions Committee carefully considers all applicants to Richmond Montessori School. We seek to enroll students whose families are committed to a Montessori education and who wish to be part of the community through Middle School. The applicant’s visit, academic record, teacher recommendations and compatibility with Richmond Montessori School are all factors considered in the decision to accept, decline or defer admission. Enrollment contracts are offered on a rolling basis and are typically offered within 10 days of the child’s final school visit.

When a space becomes available, an applicant in the waiting pool will be considered for that opening. Applications are accepted throughout the school year.

Richmond Montessori School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, or any other protected class in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic and other school-administered programs.
