Tuition & Financial Aid

The Value of an RMS Education

At RMS, students gradually learn to take more responsibility for their own learning. They practice managing their time, working through problems, collaborating with others, and reflecting on what helps them learn best. By Middle School, they have a stronger understanding of themselves as learners and are prepared for greater independence.

"At Montessori, you’ve learned to treat others like your family, and your classrooms as a home. Those are the seeds for building community."

Affording RMS: Our Commitment to Access

Richmond Montessori School is committed to making a Montessori education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds and our financial aid program reflects our commitment to maintaining an economically diverse student body and a quality private school education for students throughout the Richmond area. Our Financial aid program is designed to help bridge the gap between the cost of tuition and what a family can reasonably afford. Financial aid awards may cover up to 50% of a family's demonstrated need as determined by an independent, confidential assessment through Clarity. Financial aid at RMS  is partial in nature and is only available to school-aged children (Level kindergarten (P3) through 8th grade). We do not offer aid to our early childhood program or our Montessori Enrichment after care program.

We encourage families who believe cost may be a barrier to apply and explore what may be possible through our aid program.

Financial Aid Deadlines for the 2027-2028 School Year:

  • Returning or Current Families: December 18th, 2026
  • Newly Applying Families to our school: January 5, 2027
  • Applications received after those deadlines will still be considered on a rolling basis as funds are available.

Process: Clarity is our system for assessing need on an equitable basis. To submit the application a $65 fee is required- separate from the application fee due to RMS. The financial aid fee is payable to Clarity. Documentation is required, including, but not limited to, the most recent Tax forms & W-2s. You will be asked to consent to automatic uploads from the IRS via the Clarity app.

A financial aid committee determines if aid is awarded after confidential review & financial aid must be reapplied for each year you would like to be considered for aid. Returning families should use the same email address they used for their original Clarity application.

Financial Aid Award letters are sent via email alongside enrollment contracts. Contracts will also reflect the aid amount if the aid is requested within our deadlines. If aid is requested later, the contract may be extended without aid and updated later if aid is granted.

Financial aid requests are reviewed independently from admission applications and have no impact on acceptance decisions. You should start an FA application at the same time as your admissions application to ensure we can review and determine your eligibility.
