What first brought you to RMS?

I came to RMS back in 2015. At the time, I was a social worker working with homeless families in the Richmond area. I had also been coaching basketball in public schools for about seven years part time.

I first learned about RMS through my sister and nephews. Someone mentioned that the school had an opening for a basketball coach. My nephews were good humans,  loved sports, and I thought, why not? So, I decided to check out the school!

I instantly fell in love with RMS. During the interview process, I had the opportunity to tour the campus, meet students with a strong interest in sports, and connect with some of the families. We had some great conversations, and I left feeling excited about the school and its community. Before long, I was officially on board!

What led you to your career in education?

Growing up, my teachers, counselors and coaches were my role models

What’s one Montessori principle that really resonates with you?

I love the combination of hands-on experiences and individualized learning. These principles can apply to almost every aspect of a child's early life, and athletics is no exception. Facing challenges, trying new things, experiencing a sense of accomplishment, and learning at your own pace with guidance can all contribute to a child's growth and success. Whether in the classroom, at home, or on the field or court, these experiences help children build confidence, develop independence, and discover what they are capable of achieving

What’s one of your favorite memories from your time at RMS?

Our 2019 season. Our girls basketball team won the championship, the boys won their championship and the soccer team was number one in their league. 315p

If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would you invite?

I would love to have dinner with the BFG. He was a good human, even if his brothers were bad influences on him. It is in all of us
