Carpool procedures for 2020-2021 by campus

SOUTH CAMPUS:
499 N. Parham Road
Toddler, Primary, and Lower Elementary who have younger siblings

Morning Drop Off Procedures
8:10-8:30 AM

Please be sure that your child is ready to exit the car. They are ready with a jacket, backpack or tote bag, and, if necessary their sleeping bag and lunch. Adults must wear face coverings while on campus.

Toddler and Primary Students, and Elementary Students with toddler or primary siblings:

  1. Enter the school driveway, turn right and stop at the top of the loop at the health-screening station.
  2. Please open your windows so that staff may take the temperature of your child and conduct a health screening.
  3. Please ensure that both the driver and the passengers are wearing face masks.
  4. If you have multiple children in your car or multiple car seats that we are not able to reach, you may be instructed to park and take the children out so that we may administer the health screening.
  5. If a student has an elevated temperature, the parent will be asked to park so that a secondary staff member may recheck the temperature.

Toddler Students After the health screening:

  1. Remain in the carpool line until you reach the top of the line where you will be directed to park in a toddler parking space.
  2. Take your toddler from the car and walk him/her under the breezeway and down the small group of steps to the classroom door directly to the left of the main entrance door.
  3. A staff member will meet you at the classroom door and walk your child to the classroom.
  4. Please say your goodbyes before your child enters the building.
  5. A staff member will direct you out of your parking spot.

All other students after the health screening:

  1. Remain in the carpool line and move forward.
  2. If your child can safely exit the car independently, the child may exit and proceed to the sidewalk and then on to class with staff supervision.
  3. If your child is unable to exit the car independently, turn off your engine, safely exit and proceed to the passenger side of the car to assist your child out of the car and to the sidewalk.
  4. Students will enter the school in cohorts:

    Kim Sutton/Meredith Bailey - students walk through the main lobby entrance
    Taryn Prior/Mita Gupta- students walk through the gym
    Melia Barbour- students enter through outside door of classroom

    *Lower Elementary students with primary or toddler siblings will walk down steps to their classrooms.
  5. A staff member will supervise your child to the sidewalk and on to the classroom.
  6. Return to your car, and proceed to the exit.

Mid-day Pick-Up Procedure for Toddler & Primary Students:

11:45-12:00 PM

Please leave your carpool card on the dashboard of your car during this pick up.

Toddler Students

  1. Enter the school driveway, turn right and proceed through the carpool line.
  2. When you reach a carpool attendant, turn off your engine. Exit the car and come around to the passenger side of your car.
  3. Your child will be escorted to the car so that you can safety put him/her in her car seat
    *Parents are required to wear a face mask during carpool

Primary Students

  1. Enter the school driveway, turn right and proceed through the carpool line.
  2. When you reach a carpool attendant, turn off your engine. If your child can independently enter the car and buckle the seatbelt, he/she will do so. Otherwise, exit the car and come around to the passenger side of your car.
  3. Your child will be escorted to the car so that you can safely put him/her in the car seat, or so that he/she can enter the car independently.
    *Parents are required to wear a face mask during carpool

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedure for Toddler students, Primary students, and any Lower Elementary Students who have Toddler or Primary Siblings
3:10-3:30 PM

  1. Enter the school driveway, turn right and proceed through the carpool line.
  2. The students will be called to the front sidewalk to line up, spaced apart, with staff assistance.
  3. Children will be sent to a waiting teacher on the front sidewalk who will walk the student to their car.
  4. Toddlers being picked up during this afternoon carpool will be walked by a teacher to their car.
  5. Your child will be escorted to the car so that you can safety put him/her in the car seat, or so that he/she can enter the car independently.

NORTH CAMPUS

Lower and Upper Elementary, Middle School

Adults must wear face coverings while on campus.

Morning Drop Off Procedure

Middle School Students

8:00-8:10 AM

  • Temperature checks will be taken in the middle school loop
  1. Enter the school driveway, take an immediate right and stop at the walkway to the rear of the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
  2. Please open your windows so that staff may take the temperature of your child and conduct a health screening.
  3. Please ensure that both the driver and the passengers are wearing face masks.
  4. If a student has an elevated temperature, the parent will be asked to park so that a secondary staff member may recheck the temperature.
  5. Students may exit their cars and proceed to the upper level of the PAC through the back entrance.
  6. If there are younger students, they should stay in the car and the parent will proceed to the appropriate carpool line.

Lower & Upper Elementary Students

8:10-8:30 AM

  1. Enter the north campus entrance, follow the driveway around to the front loop.
  2. Please open your windows so that staff may take the temperature of your child and conduct a health screening.
  3. Please ensure that both the driver and the passengers are wearing face masks.
  4. If a student has an elevated temperature, the parent will be asked to park so that a secondary staff member may recheck the temperature.
  5. Once the student has been cleared, students may exit their cars independently at the top of the carpool loop.
  6. Upper elementary students should enter the outside individual door of their classrooms.
  7. Lower elementary students should proceed to their south campus classroom, walking through the wishing woods. Staff members will be stationed between campuses to supervise this transition.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures

3:10-3:30 PM

  1. Lower Elementary students will be waiting in their classrooms on south campus until their car arrives, at which time they will be called to north campus. Parents will be instructed to pull around to the far side of the loop to wait for their student. Students should enter their cars independently whenever possible. If a student needs help getting in the car, the parent will turn off their car, get out and come around to help their child.
  2. Upper Elementary and Middle School students will wait in their classrooms until they are called and will enter their cars independently.

LATE ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL

  1. Park and walk your child to the front office door at the appropriate campus. Please be sure that parents and students 3 years and older are wearing masks.
  2. Ring the doorbell and wait for staff. Please be patient as we may be assisting other families.
  3. A staff member will come to the door screen your child.
  4. If the temperature is within normal range, the staff member will sign in your child and walk them to their classroom.
  5. If there is an elevated temperature, we will have a second staff member retake the temperature after a 5 minute wait time.

LATE PICK UP FROM SCHOOL

  1. Ring the bell and wait for a staff member to come to the door. Please be sure that you are wearing a mask.
  2. The staff member will call your child from class to the front door to meet you and sign them out for the day.

EARLY PICK UP FROM SCHOOL

  1. If you need to pick up your child earlier than their dismissal time, please send a note or email to the teacher and copy the front desk (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), 24 hours in advance.
  2. Ring the bell and wait for a staff member to come to the door. Please be sure that you are wearing a mask.
  3. The staff member will sign out your child and call them to the front door to meet you.
