Providing an education that can change the world, Richmond Montessori School is a campus community that nurtures each student’s fullest potential while encouraging independence, self-assurance, self-motivation, respect for others and a love of learning.
Founded in 1965, and based on educational methods developed in 1907 by Italy’s first female physician Dr. Maria Montessori, Richmond Montessori serves more than 300 students, aged 2 ½-14.
The school is one of the few Montessori schools in the country to hold two accreditations: American Montessori Society (AMS) and Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). Both accrediting bodies are affiliates of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Virginia Council of Private Education (VCPE). The Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) licenses our Extended Care Program. |
