Welcome to Richmond Montessori School! 

RMS is a profoundly kind, authentic, joyful community with a strong commitment to providing an exemplary Montessori education. Here are a few of my favorite things about our school: 

• Our students: Ours are the brightest, funniest, and most authentic children that I have ever known. This is a testament to how deeply every student experiences being truly seen and valued by the adults in our school.
• World’s best educators: ...which that brings me to my favorite soapbox: 1) teaching is the most important job in the world, and 2) our teachers are absolutely unmatched – period. There is not one classroom in which I would not be delighted for my daughter to be a part. 
• Graduate outcomes: Because we combine high fidelity Montessori with ambitious academics, our alumni know who they are, how to advocate for themselves, and how to succeed in high school and beyond. Graduates leave RMS with high school credits and are admitted to their top choice schools. 
• Dual accreditation: As a marker of our commitment to excellence and continued growth, RMS is dually accredited by both the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and the American Montessori Society. 
• The RMS community: We are proudly a diverse, vibrant community that is united by our shared mission to help children grow into the best version of themselves. We believe that every day with every student matters. We are grateful for each of you being part of the love and hope that is the RMS village.

And the research shows it! Forbes recently highlighted that Montessori students have better mental health, and that it lasts—adults who went to Montessori schools as children have higher well-being. Psychology Today assessed the learning outcomes of Montessori and traditional students and found that Montessori students were, on average, a full school year ahead academically by sixth grade.
