Admissions Process

Becoming a Falcon

Richmond Montessori School accepts applications throughout the year. The application deadline for first-round consideration is January 31, 2022. We welcome inquiries and applications from all families with children ranging from 18 months to 14 years of age (toddlers through 8th grade).

Admissions Events

Parents/Guardians are invited to attend a Virtual Admissions Event before submitting an application. These events are designed to give you the opportunity to learn about the Montessori method of education, meet our dedicated faculty and staff, and get your questions answered to determine if Richmond Montessori School is the right place for your child and family.

Admissions events for the fall of 2021 will be announced in September.

General admissions requirements and procedures for the 2022-23 school year

1. Apply

Once your completed application is received, someone from the Admissions office will contact you with the next steps in the process. Teacher recommendations and academic records from the applicant's current school are requested for all children applying for primary third-year (kindergarten) through middle school. We do not request records for children applying for our toddler or preschool programs. To apply, please fill out the application form.

2. Family meeting, video submissions, and readiness assessment

As part fo the application process, parents are invited to participate in a family meeting with the director of admissions. Due to COVID limitations, toddler and primary students will submit videos in place of school visits. The admission office will share instructions for your video submission. Elementary and middle school students will have an in-person one-on-one readiness assessment with one of our educational directors.

3. Admissions decision & enrollment offer

The Admissions Committee carefully considers all applicants to Richmond Montessori School. We seek to enroll students whose families are committed to a Montessori education and who wish to be part of the community through Middle School. The completed admissions file, consisting of videos, academic records, readiness assessments, teacher recommendations, and a committment to Montessori education are all factors considered in the decision to accept or decline admission.

Admissions decisions for primary third-year (kindergarten) applicants will be shared February 18, 2022. Admissions decisions for all other applicants will be shared after February 18, 2022 on a rolling basis, as space permits.

Richmond Montessori School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
