Admissions Process

Admissions Process

Becoming a Falcon

Richmond Montessori School has rolling admission, which means that we accept applications throughout the year. We welcome inquiries and applications from all families with children ranging from 18 months to 14 years of age (toddlers through 8th grade).

General admissions requirements and procedures

1. Attend an admission event

Parents/Guardians are encouraged attend a Virtual Open House before submitting an application. The open house will give you the opportunity to learn about the Montessori method of education, see our campus, observe our classrooms, experience our school community, and get your questions answered to determine if Richmond Montessori School is the right place for your child and family.

Admissions events for the fall of 2021 (for entrance in the 2022-2023 school year) will be announced in September.

2. Apply

Once your completed application is received, the Director of Admission will contact you to set up your parent interview and your child's school visit. Teacher recommendations and/or academic records from the applicant's current school are requested for all children applying for kindergarten through middle school. We do not request records for children applying for our toddler or preschool programs. To apply, please fill out the application form.

3. Applicant Visit & Parent Interview

Children are invited for a classroom visit and a one-on-one readiness assessment which is conducted by one of our Educational Coordinators. The parents participate in an interview with an Educational and/or Admission Director during their child's visit.

4. Admissions Decision & Enrollment Offer

The Admissions Committee carefully considers all applicants to Richmond Montessori School. We seek to enroll students whose families are committed to a Montessori education and who wish to be part of the community through Middle School. The applicant’s visit, academic record, teacher recommendations and compatibility with Richmond Montessori School are all factors considered in the decision to accept, decline or defer admission. Admissions decisions are offered on a rolling basis as space permits.

When a space becomes available, an applicant in the waiting pool will be considered for that opening. Applications are accepted throughout the school year.

Richmond Montessori School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, or any other protected class in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid program, athletic and other school-administered programs.
